WHO CAN PARTICIPATE – Any person (regardless of professional experience) can submit photos – journalists, photographers, ordinary citizens, students and others.
HOW TO APPLY – Submit the following information and materials from March 29 to… April 23, 2010.

1. Name and contact information (phone number and/or email)
2. Up to 5 images (minimum 3 – 3.35 mega pixel) that you want to include in the exhibition
3. Each photo should have clear caption saying: where it was taken, by whom and what/who are on the photo.Please send your photos to foicaphoto@gmail.com or submit it in electronic version to the Freedom of Information Center at 1/3 Buzand street, 4th floor.
The photo submission deadline is April 23, 2010.

The photos will be available for online voting at the official blog of the Contest. The winners will be determined according to the results of online voting and final decision of professional jury. The best photos will be presented at the open air exhibition “One Woman – One World”, which will be organized at the Lovers Park on the 7th of April. Later on, the exhibition will be moved to Naregatsi Cultural Union exhibition hall.

 Eurasia Partnership Foundation and Theodor-Heuss- Kolleg launched Getting Involved! in February 2009 to strengthen civic engagement among young people in the South Caucasus. Participants learn how to shape their immediate surroundings by combining good ideas with the right tools. Working together, they carry out volunteer projects both in their home com-munities and in cross-border settings. In this way, they become familiar with new forms of collaboration and enhance their project management skills.

 Who may apply for the program?

You may apply to participate in Getting Involved! if you:

 > Are between the ages of 18-22;

 > Live in Armenia, Azerbaijan or Georgia;

 > Have knowledge of English (advanced written and oral);

 > Are dedicated to the development of your community;

 > Are interested in meeting and working with like-minded people From Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia.

What does the program offer?

Selected participants will attend a series of three seminars, starting with a 8-day Project Development Seminar in March 2010. During the seminar, participants will have the opportunity to write a project concept for their own voluntary project ideas or work or for the ideas of other participants to develop cross-border projects. The best projects will be funded by Get-ting Involved! During the course of project implementation, participants will attend a five-day Project Management Seminar in May 2010 and five-day Evaluation Seminar in December 2010.

Where will the seminars take place?

All three seminars will take place in Georgia.

Who will cover the costs?

Board and lodging will be provided by the training organizers. Travel costs will be reimbursed upon submission of a copy of the travel ticket.

When are the deadlines?

The deadline for the application is February 19, 2010.. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted in the beginning of March to verify English language ability. Decisions will be announced on March 8, 2010. What is the schedule of the program?

 The program schedule is as follows:

 > Seminar 1 ” Project Development ” March 20-27, 2010;

 > Seminar 2 ” Project Management ” May 7-11, 2010;

 > Seminar 3 ” Project Evaluation ” December 3-7, 2010;

This means that, for the first time, member countries of the United Nations agreed on certain rights, which have to be totally respected in any situation for all children under the age of 18. Today there are 195 countries of the world who have signed the Convention.

The European Commission, DG Justice, Freedom and Security is dedicating the 4th edition of its poster competition to celebrating the anniversary of this important agreement.

So take part – learn more about the rights you have, and express yourself on the topic!

How?

Create a team of 4 persons (10-14 or 15-18 years old) with an adult supervisor.

Choose one specific right from the Convention for illustration on the poster.
Present your ideas on a poster in A2 format.

The Criteria
The program is open each year to 20 young people between 25 and 35 years of age who have demonstrated leadership potential and initiative in the private or public, politics, local government, academia, media or civil society and who are genuinely interested in the challenges facing today’s society and committed to playing a role in promoting change. They should have an advanced knowledge of English, due to the regional character of the programme. Candidates from Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Georgia, Hungary, Kosovo, Macedonia, Republic of Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine are welcome. We will cover all in country (Romania) costs and we are prepared to consider favourably well-argued requests for financial support for travel costs to Romania.

The Nomination Process
Candidates cannot apply personally but must be nominated by recognized leaders from the business or political community or civil society. Nominees may come from any sector of society, gender or minority group.
Nominations should be made by sending a letter of recommendation, a CV and a completed nomination form to ciprian.stanescu@aspeninstitute.ro. The letter of recommendation should include a summary of the nominee’s qualities which recommend him/her for the Programme, as well as confirmation that the candidate is interested in participating in the programme.

Submission requirements:
• Age of youth media maker: The work must have been created by youth ages 19 and under. In order for a film to be eligible, at the time of production youth under the age of 19 must have served in the majority of creative and technical production roles as directors, writers, camera-person, editors, animators, etc.
• Short films 15 minutes or under preferred. Films longer than 20 minutes will not be considered.
• Language: Films of all languages are welcome, however films must have English subtitles if the spoken language is a language other than English.
• Format: DVD(preferred) or VHS. We can accept entries using NTSC or PAL. Submissions will not be returned. Sorry, entries sent in on Mini DV can NOT be considered.
• Authority to Submit the Film and License: By submitting the film, you acknowledge that you have the full right and authority to submit the film to the YOUTH PRODUCING CHANGE program and you grant to Human Rights Watch, Adobe Youth Voices and the Human Rights Watch International Film Festival a free license to screen and exhibit the film for evaluation purposes.
• Ownership and Copyright: By submitting the film, you acknowledge that you are the sole author and owner of the film, or if you are not the sole author,you have secured all necessary and appropriate rights, written permissions, and releases in connection with submitting the film. In particular, all music and other rights must be cleared for non-exclusive educational, online, broadcast and theatrical distribution. Please check out The Center for Social Media’s Copyright & Fair Use guidelines for more information.
• Minors(i.e., Youth under 18 years of age): Human Rights Watch encourages you to read this document carefully with your parent (or duly appointed guardian) and consult with your parent (or duly appointed guardian) before submitting your film.
If your film is selected for the YOUTH PRODUCING CHANGE program, we will require you to sign a separate film license agreement allowing your film to be screened in and used as part of the YOUTH PRODUCING CHANGE program and our film festivals and for your parent or legal guardian, and in some jurisdictions both parents and/or legal guardians, to also sign the film license agreement. Your submission and the film license agreement will be governed by the laws of the State of New York.

Timeline:
• Submission Deadline: All submission emails must be received by no later than January 15, 2010.
• Notification: If your film is selected to be part of YOUTH PRODUCING CHANGE we will be in touch with you before April 2010. Please note, due to the number of submissions we receive we do not send rejection letters.

How do I submit my film?
Submitting your film to YOUTH PRODUCING CHANGE is easy! Please follow the following 3 steps:
1. Read through the following instructions and enter your film information into our online submission form by January 15, 2010 (deadline).
Please note: By submitting your film to YOUTH PRODUCING CHANGE, you acknowledge that (a) you have read and fully understand this “Call for Submissions” document in its entirety, (b) if you are below 18 years of age, your parent or legal guardian has given his or her consent for you to submit the film, and your parent or legal guardian has read and reviewed the “Call for Submissions” document with you in its entirety, (c) you certify that all statements in the submission requirements section of the “Call for Submissions” document are true, and (d) you have the power, authority and legal right to submit your film.

2.The screening committee will contact you if they are interested in screening a copy of your film/video/animation.
After reading the information you submit, we will be in touch to let you know if we would like you to send us a copy of your film/video/ animation.
All submissions will be reviewed by our intergenerational screening committee made up of high-school aged youth and adults. In selecting films for YOUTH PRODUCING CHANGE, Human Rights Watch will concentrate equally on human rights content, factual accuracy and artistic merit.
You acknowledge that Human Rights Watch, Adobe Youth Voices, the Human Rights Watch International Film Festival and the YOUTH PRODUCING CHANGE program are not responsible for lost or damaged submissions.
You acknowledge and agree that: (a) the intergenerational screening committee has the sole authority in its own discretion to select or reject films for YOUTH PRODUCING CHANGE, and any decision made by our intergenerational screening committee will be final, and (b) we have no obligation to use or distribute your film, and we may cancel, modify or delay the YOUTH PRODUCING CHANGE program without notice to you.
You also acknowledge that Human Rights Watch has received many submissions, one or more of which might be similar or substantially identical to your film submission. You acknowledge and agree that you will not receive any recognition or monetary compensation because of Human Rights Watch’s, Adobe Youth Voices’, the Human Rights Watch International Film Festival’s or the YOUTH PRODUCING CHANGE program’s use of other identical or similar material to your film that is submitted by someone else.

3. If we decide we would like to include your film in YOUTH PRODUCING CHANGE, we will be in touch with you to invite the film to screen in our festival. Unfortunately, given the number of submissions we receive, the festival cannot send out rejection letters. We will only contact those filmmakers whose films/videos/animations are accepted.

Armenia guests should be provided with an opportunity to choose: expensive hotels or much cheaper hostels! This was the main idea when several Armenian young people decided to establish a new hostel in Yerevan: “THEATRE Hostel,” on Tigran Mets Avenue, which is a 10-minute walking distance from the Republic Square (http://www.theatre.am or http://www.armeniahostel.am): “I have been working on mutual youth exchanges and other international volunteering initiatives for more than a decade. We were very active as a sending organization/country but it was very hard for us to host foreigners or our Diaspora Armenians in Armenia because of the very high prices of Yerevan hotels and lack of more practical and cheaper accommodation,”-says Alexander Hakobyan, the Director of the THEATRE Hostel.

Establishment of the hostel in Yerevan was more than just a cheaper offer for budget travelers, but also an initiative for advantaging the integration process of “Hostel Culture” to Yerevan and Armenia in general, there are many people who do not know what is hostel and why hostel.

“Student movement in Armenia” wishes good luck to the newly launched THEATRE Hostel and invites everybody to visit Armenia!
